Snowman Fred
Henry has recently been pointing out snowmen on our drive home from daycare every day. He decided that we also needed a snowman at our house. I was really excited with the project and personally had visions of a snowman around 4-5 feet that towered over Henry. I knew it would take a while to make, so I started on the project during Henry's nap. Unfortunately the snow from our most recent snowfall is quite dry, and not great packing snow. After spending around 1 hour on rolling together a snowball that was not quite the size of what I had envisioned for the middle section of the snowman I knew I was either in for an all night project, or just needed to accept defeat on my first snowman challenge in 25 years and adjust... so, this is our snow blob, Fred! (Needless to say, Henry was just as excited about Fred as he would have been about the perfect snowman I had envisioned).

Birthday party
We had a fun time celebrating Henry's 3rd birthday with friends at the Minneapolis Firefighters Museum. Henry and his friends were able to play in and on old fire trucks, demonstrate a bucket brigade and slide down a fire pole (in addition to being completely terrified by the docent giving us the tour whom very bluntly told them that if they were to catch on fire and did not "stop, drop and roll" might be severely injured or die). Henry and Lucas have also been very excited that cousin Jon came to spend the weekend with us and join in the festivities from Chicago.

Happy 3rd birthday Henry!
Henry turns 3 years old today! He has added so much joy and laughter to our lives. Here is a look back at Henry, month by month, over the past 3 years. We love you little man!

4 months old
It's hard to believe, but Lucas is already 4 months old! Lucas joined Henry in going to "school" and is now in the "baby classroom." He seems to enjoy daycare, but unfortunately takes very short naps so is generally exhausted at the end of the day. He decided to show off on his first day of daycare and rolled from his back to his stomach for the first time ever (but we haven't seen him repeat that since). We are all adjusting to life without Grandma and Oma helping. It has helped that both boys are now going to bed at the same time each night, which allows us to catch up and get ready for the next day. We don't have much time for television or reading these days, but we couldn't be happier and feel so lucky to have such wonderful boys.
Lucas continues to be a fabulous baby. He has been sleeping through the night for many weeks now, usually from 8:30pm to 6am! He has perfected the "happy baby" yoga pose, continues to adore his older brother and definitely seems to be teething (although we know that it could be weeks before that first tooth pops through).

January
We had so much fun with Oma here over the past two weeks. She was home bound with Lucas most of the time while we were working and Henry was at daycare, but she also got to experience some beautiful Minnesota winter days (sunny & 30 degrees) and some bitter cold Minnesota days (5-10 degrees with negative temperature wind chills).
Lucas continued to grow and change while she was here. He liked to giggle and smile for Oma, and has nearly figured out how to suck his thumb as a means of soothing himself. He continues eating very well and is fitting into many 6 month size outfits at 3.5 months age! Oma also introduced Henry to German Laterne. It was unfortunately too cold for Oma and Henry to venture outdoors, but they had fun parading around our house in the dark with their laterne singing German songs.
Again, thank you so much Grandma, Grandpa, Oma & Opa for all of the time, love and effort you put into helping us and caring for your grandsons!
