Spring Break

Henry and Lucas joined their cousin's Oliver and Elliot for part of their spring break in Holland at Oma and Opa's house. They went fishing for tadpoles at the Outdoor Discovery Center and learned that Henry is taller than a Great Blue Heron.

Mom and dad traveled to Charlevoix for the weekend to celebrate a friend's wedding during this time. We enjoyed exploring Fisherman's Island State Park and found some Charlevoix stones. Before returning home, we made a quick trip to the Saugatuck State Park with Oma and the boys.

Is it spring yet?

We've enjoyed several trips to the Henry Ford Museum this winter with Grandma and Grandpa. I think Henry would chose to go here every single weekend if it was an option.

Myra and Jon visited Grandma and Grandpa in April and we enjoyed a great day staying warm with them mostly indoors playing with legos, reading books, watching their wedding video, and making a paper Easter egg garland. Outdoor time was cut short Saturday due to the bitter temperatures, but the sun graced us on Sunday for a brief period outside.

Oma's Birthday

Henry loves to bake with both his Grandma and Oma. So Henry decided that he wanted to bake a cake for Oma for her birthday this year. Since Henry doesn't actually like cake, we settled on something he actually does eat, pumpkin pie. The month of March may seem like a strange time of year for pumpkin pie, but Oma was flattered by his thoughtfulness and everyone thought it tasted delicious (except for maybe Lucas).

Botanical Gardens

The bitter cold winter temperatures continued on well into March this year. Lucas and I discovered that we had a tropical respite just a few miles away from where we live; the University of Michigan Matthaei Botanical Gardens. This soon became a weekly stop following Henry's speech therapy class to escape the cold. We spend time playing their plant bingo game, borrowing their binoculars and magnifying glasses, searching for the fairy gardens as well as venturing outdoors when the weather began improving.
